The leading five positions in the National Thoroughbred Racing Association Top Thoroughbred Poll remain unchanged following a relatively quiet week of stakes action in North America without any grade 1 or grade 2 races.

Metropolitan Handicap (G1) winner Nysos continues to top the poll. He is followed by Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Magnitude, Oaklawn Handicap (G2) winner White Abarrio, reigning Horse of the Year Sovereignty, and Japanese star and Saudi Cup (G1) winner Forever Young.

Rising most in the poll—which is meant to represent those in contention for the year-end prize of Horse of the Year—is Golden Tempo, the Kentucky Derby (G1) and Belmont Stakes (G1) winner. The top-ranked 3-year-old climbs from 11th to sixth.

Book'em Danno, Deterministic, Skippylongstocking and Nitrogen round out the top 10.

Golden Tempo's advance relegates Burnham Square from the top 10. He sits at 11th following a narrow victory in the Chorleywood Stakes June 13 at Churchill Downs. That victory was his third in a row.

Significant changes in the poll seem unlikely to take place until after the $2 million Stephen Foster Stakes (G1) June 27 at Churchill Downs. That race is expected to lure Magnitude, White Abarrio, and Sovereignty, plus other accomplished older horses.

National media members vote in The Top Thoroughbred Poll, which concludes Nov. 3, days after this fall's Breeders' Cup World Championships at Keeneland. Individual votes by media members participating in the poll are available online.
