Three hundred twenty-two Japanese-bred yearlings are cataloged for the Oct. 13-14 HBA Autumn Sale, which is the last yearling sale in Japan for the year, at Shizunai.
While it is a much smaller catalog than 2025, when 401 yearlings were offered, it is still a catalog filled with quality as it includes a considerable number of consignments from leading breeders such as Shadai Farm (13 lots), Northern Farm/Northern Racing (8 lots), Oiwake Farm and Chiyoda Farm (3 lots each), and Okada Stud (8 lots).
Hip 148, consigned by Shadai Farm, is a filly by Kizuna, Japan's leading sire in 2024 and 2025. She is the first foal out of Shantisara, who won the Queen Elizabeth II Challenge Cup Stakes (G1T) at Keeneland in 2021 by 5 lengths for trainer Chad Brown. Shantisara was bought at the Fasig-Tipton November Sale in 2023 by Shadai Farm for US$1.3 million.
Hip 177, another yearling consigned by Shadai Farm, is a filly by Ace Impact, the 2023 European Horse of the Year, whose first crop is now yearlings. She is a half sister to Marhaba Ya Sanafi, winner of 2023 Poule d'Essai des Poulains (G1).
Hip 122, one of the consignees from Northern Racing, is a colt by Drefong, who is currently one of Japan's leading dirt sires this year. Coloration, the dam of the colt, is a half sister to Costa Nova, winner of the last two editions of the February Stakes.
