The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame's eighth annual Photo Finish juried photography exhibition will open in the von Stade Gallery on Wednesday, Oct. 28.
Featuring selected amateur and professional photographs that document the thoroughbred racing experience from the farm to the racetrack, Photo Finish captures the elements of the strength, beauty, and powerful emotions of the sport.
Photo Finish includes 38 images submitted by photographers from 18 states. The exhibition's images were chosen by a panel comprised of Adam Coglianese, the New York Racing Association's official photographer; Sue Finley, Thoroughbred Daily News publisher and CEO; Ken Grayson, chair of the Museum's Collections Committee; and Eugene Viti, the Museum's Collections Associate.
An online version of Photo Finish will include the 38 images featured in the von Stade Gallery exhibition plus an additional 64 photos submitted for the show's consideration. The online exhibit will debut on the Museum website racingmuseum.org in November.
"The National Museum of Racing and Hall of Fame is proud to once again present our annual Photo Finish exhibition. We are thrilled to exhibit this exceptional work submitted by talented photographers who share our passion for thoroughbred racing," said Cate Masterson, the Museum's director. "Racing is an incredibly beautiful sport that provides so many opportunities for capturing images that are breathtaking and emotional. This is an incredible visual experience and we thank all the amazing photographers who submitted their work."
Photo Finish will remain on display through Dec. 27.
