Saturday October 28th marks the final Best of Ohio Day for 2023. Five $100,000 stake races for Ohio breds will be contested at distances from 6 furlongs to 1 mile and a quarter at Hollywood Gaming at Mahoning Valley Race Course.
The Ohio Thoroughbred Breeders and Owners Association—OTBO—in conjunction with Mahoning will be hosting a "Salute to the Breeders" program. The winning breeder of each stake race will receive a trophy honoring their accomplishments. All breeders of every horse in each stake will be featured with special graphics throughout the day on both the simulcast signal and the in-house monitors.
Full fields are carded with many returning winners and former champions set to face off in what should be an exciting day. There will be an "All Stakes Pick 5" on the last 5 races. Mahoning Track announcer Matt Hook and OTBO Executive Director Mike Annechino will host a handicapping show prior to the races featuring their selections for the Pick 5 which will also be featured on the simulcast signal.
