Darby Dan Farm's grade 3-placed second-crop stallion Dolphus, a half brother to 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra, sired his first winner when his daughter Nurse Caralyn surged in deep stretch to capture a maiden claiming race May 13 at Parx Racing.

Dede McGehee, who foaled and raised Rachel Alexandra at her Heaven Tree Farm for breeder Dolphus Morrison, bred Nurse Caralyn out of the More Than Ready winner More Than Gracious. The dam is out of the stakes winner Gracility, making her a half sister to stakes winner House of Grace, who was also third in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf.

McGehee and partners Anthony Rallo and Tyler Rallo got Nurse Caralyn's racing career started with trainer Kelsey Danner, getting two seconds and a third with the filly. Nurse Caralyn was claimed March 7 at Turfway Park by trainer John David Wells on behalf of Sean Mitchell. The filly now races for Mitchell's Happy Got Lucky Stable with trainer Jacinto Solis.

Nurse Caralyn has a 1-3-2 record from 10 career starts and has earned $32,426.

Dolphus, an 11-year-old son of Lookin At Lucky, won four of 12 starts. Racing as a homebred for Heaven Tree, he won his debut at Fair Grounds Race Course & Slots at 2 and went on to be runner-up in the Pimlico Special Handicap (G3). He was retired with earnings of more than $211,000.

Dolphus stands at Darby Dan for a private fee.
