Owner Centennial Farms, which campaigned Antiquarian, announces that the grade 1-winning son of the late Preservationist has been sold to JS Company and Directors to begin his stallion career at Arrow Stud in Japan.

Trained by Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher, Antiquarian captured last year's Jockey Club Gold Cup Stakes (G1). Antiquarian won at least one graded stakes in each year he raced, as he captured the 2024 Peter Pan Stakes (G3) at 3 and this year's Westchester Stakes (G3) at age 5. In those three seasons of racing, Antiquarian earned $1,320,350 in purses while compiling a 5-3-1 record from 14 starts.

Bred by the late Brereton Jones, Antiquarian is out of the winning Istan mare Lifetime Memory, who also has produced grade 3 winner Fondly among her three winners from as many starters.

Some of the stallions who raced in the United States and stood this past season at Arrow Stud include two-time Horse of the Year California Chrome , 2012 champion 2-year-old male Shanghai Bobby and grade 1 winner Firenze Fire.

Antiquarian was retired from racing late last month because of a minor suspensory injury under his left ankle. Centennial also campaigned Preservationist, also a grade 1 winner.

"Antiquarian's record and individuality speak for themselves, but campaigning an elite son of a Centennial star is a unique joy, with much of the same team and many of the same partners involved in both," Centennial said in August when Antiquarian was retired.
