The Louisiana Thoroughbred Breeders Association's Breeders Sales of Louisiana held its 2025 yearling sale, followed by a mixed session, Oct. 12 at the Louisiana Equine Sales and Event Center in Opelousas.
A total of 120 yearlings were cataloged with 16 outs. The yearling sale average was $10,000 as 81 yearlings sold for a gross of $816,700. The median was $4,000. There were 23 RNAs.
In the mixed sale, 34 horses were cataloged. Nineteen sold, including 14 mares, one horse of racing age, and four weanlings. There were 3 RNAs. Twelve were withdrawn. The mixed sale total was $64,700 with an average of $3,405, and a median of $2,900.
The gross for the overall sale was $881,400.
The yearling sale topper was Hip 31, a full sister to Smoken Wicked, winner of the Amsterdam Stakes (G2) at Saratoga Race Course this summer among four career stakes victories. The bay filly by Bobby's Wicked One out of Street Smoke was purchased by Marc Winston for $47,000 from the Clear Creek Stud consignment.
The second highest-price paid for the day was $44,000 for Hip 22, a bay filly by Lookin At Lucky out of Solo Buena. Also out of the Clear Creek Stud consignment, the filly was purchased by Sandeep Patel
