Arindel homebred Mythical ran like she never lost a beat, romping home the easiest of winners in the $200,000 Florida Sire Susan's Girl Stakes Oct. 18 at Gulfstream Park.
The Florida-bred filly had been a force to be reckoned with in the juvenile filly division throughout the summer, rattling off three straight wins for the Jorge Delgado barn. Two of those wins came in stakes company—first against males in the Tremont Stakes and then a 3 1/4-length tally in the Adirondack Stakes (G3) at Saratoga Race Course. Following a fifth in the Spinaway Stakes (G1), Mythical faced state-breds for the first time in Saturday's Susan's Girl.
An overwhelming 4-5 favorite, Mythical ($2.80) took charge past the half-mile marker and widened her advantage with every stride to the wire. She finished 12 3/4 lengths in front of runner-up Love Like Lucy, stopping the clock in a stakes-record time of 1:22.95 for 7 furlongs.
The daughter of St Patrick's Day was ridden by Emisael Jaramillo, the filly's rider in all five of her lifetime starts.
"She has run some pretty big races," Arindel president Brian Cohen said. "Last race was a little disappointing, getting hemmed in on the inside. We were pretty confident that she'd get the distance. The way she broke and settled (this time), I thought she's either winning by 15 or losing by 15. When she started making her move, I was pretty confident."
The Florida Sire Stakes Series finale for fillies, the $300,000 My Dear Girl Stakes, will be contested at 1 1/16 miles at Gulfstream Nov. 29.
"I think we're going to go there," Delgado said. "Against this competition, we're going to try (two turns). The ways she's training and the way she's feeling here in Florida, I think it's a no-brainer for her."

Khozalite Takes Affirmed in Stakes Debut
Later on the card, Khozalite captured the $200,000 Florida Sire Affirmed Stakes for 2-year-old males.
Trained by Jose D'Angelo for Half Hollow Stables and ProRacing Stable, Khozalite was a convincing 4-length winner in his stakes debut under jockey Leonel Reyes. Stalking just off the pace early, the Khozan colt forged to the front at the top of the turn and streaked clear from his rivals. He completed the 7 furlongs in 1:23.30.
Khozalite returned $9.20 as the light co-favorite.
Squire and Strategic Risk completed the trifecta.
ProRacing Stable signed the ticket on the Florida-bred colt for $55,000 at this year's Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring Sale of 2-Year-Olds in Training from the Journeyman Bloodstock Services consignment.
