A colt by top sire Nyquist  claimed honors as the highest-priced weanling of the day when he sold for $600,000 during the second session of Book 2 at the Keeneland November Breeding Stock Sale Nov. 6.

Offered as Hip 830 by the Indian Creek consignment, the colt was one of five purchases made by Thursday's leading buyer, Clover Leaf Bloodstock. The outfit acquired three other weanlings, a Twirling Candy  colt (Hip 934) for $290,000, a McKinzie  filly (Hip 835) for $180,000, and a colt by first-crop yearling sire Arcangelo  for $90,000 in addition to the Runhappy mare Mercy Now (Hip 894), who was bought in foal to new Gainesway stallion Seize the Grey . Overall, Clover Leaf Bloodstock's purchases totalled $1,230,000.

Indian Creek's Sarah Sutherland said the session-topping colt, the third foal out of the well-related Honor Code mare Intense Honor, was a standout at the farm.

"All along at the farm, he was a horse that everyone was proud of and excited about from the get-go, and I think it was nice to come here and see him so well received," Sutherland said. "You could see things lining up and you know you're in a good position, especially with how the market has been in the last few days. We were positive bringing him up but it definitely exceeded our expectations, which was great. I'm tickled for the breeder and the guys at home—the guys at home do a great job of raising these babies. It's definitely a proud moment."

Hip 830 was bred in Kentucky by Viking Breeding. His dam is a half sibling to two graded stakes winners and two stakes producers. Among her accomplished siblings include millionaire Money Multiplier (Lookin at Lucky), who Sutherland's father, bloodstock agent Mike Ryan, purchased for $260,000 as a yearling at the 2013 Keeneland September Yearling Sale. An earner of $1.2 million on the track, Money Multiplier captured back-to-back editions of the Monmouth Stakes (G2T) in 2017 and 2018 and was grade 1-placed five times in his career.

Intense Honor is also a half sibling to 2014 Kentucky Derby (G1) contender Intense Holiday. The son of Harlan's Holiday won the Risen Star Stakes (G2) that year ahead of his Derby bid.

"This is a family we've been familiar with and know," Sutherland said. "There are several nice daughters out there breeding from this family, so it's one that we keep close tabs on. And this was a great mating for the mare, you can see great physical attributes from Nyquist and the female family and it just all worked out very well so hopefully he'll be a runner like some of the others in his family."

The colt's sire, Darley Stud stallion Nyquist, is responsible for a stellar 10 graded stakes winners in 2025, including recent Breeders' Cup Dirt Mile (G1) hero Nysos.
