After the Finish Line's 8th Charity Auction of Breeders' Cup Caps starts this Sunday, January 18th and runs for one week. Our sponsor, the Georgia B. Ridder Foundation, honors Mrs. Ridder who owned and raced Alphabet Soup, the 1996 Breeders' Cup Classic Champion. Proceeds will help care for, rehabilitate, retrain, rehome and/or retire off-track Thoroughbreds.
Racing fans can bid at ebay.com/str/afterthefinishline starting at 6p PT/9p ET.
A total of 114 Thoroughbreds from the 2025 World Championships at Del Mar are included in the auction. This includes American based Thoroughbreds, as well as Japanese and European runners. Bid on Forever Young, Ted Noffey, Sierra Leone, Shisospicy and more! These iconic purple Breeders' Cup caps are only available for the connections, breeders, owners, syndicates, and trainers of the Breeders' Cup entrants. This is a one-time opportunity for racing fans to bid on their favorite horse's caps. Follow After the Finish Line's socials to see all the caps.
"This auction brings aftercare, and horse racing fans together in a unique way," said Dawn Mellen, President and Founder of After the Finish Line. "Fans can bid on the official hats of their favorite racehorses to benefit Thoroughbreds no longer racing. This helps raise awareness about the importance of aftercare for racing fans. We are excited to help build the bridge between racing and aftercare with this auction."
"I look forward to participating in this year's Breeders' Cup Cap Auction. I expect the bidding will be fierce for many caps," said Michael R. Whalen, President of the Georgia B. Ridder Foundation. "Fortunately, racing fans have many great horses to choose from."
