Rockridge Stud stallion Chewing Gum sired his first reported foal, a filly out of the winning Miracle Man mare Hatta's Appeal, Jan. 14. The filly was bred by Pearl Thoroughbreds in New York.
An 11-year-old son of Candy Ride , Chewing Gum entered stud at Rockridge Stud in New York following a successful career on the track. Winner of the 2022 Joe Hernandez Stakes (G2T) at Santa Anita Park for Hall of Fame trainer Bill Mott, Chewing Gum finished runner-up in the 2021 Jaipur Stakes (G1T) to multiple grade 1 winner Casa Creed at Belmont Park, and placed in the 2020 and 2021 Belmont Turf Sprint Invitational Stakes (G3T). With wins on turf, dirt, and all-weather surfaces, he retired at age 9 with a 5-5-9 record in 35 starts and earnings of $662,426 over a career spanning six seasons.
"We are excited to have a son of Candy Ride in the barn, and are quite impressed with this first foal of his—she has a very strong shoulder. Adam Wachtel and Dr. Schleifer sent some mares with strong pedigrees to him, so we are anticipating more lovely foals to come," Rockridge Stud owner/operator Lere Visagie said.
Bred in Kentucky by Wertheimer et Frere, Chewing Gum is out of the stakes-placed Forestry mare Shared Heart and a half sibling to grade 3-placed Sinfiltre. His extended family includes grade 1 winners Gin Gin and Hard to Justify, as well as Europe's 2025 leading first-season sire Starman.
Chewing Gum stands the 2026 season for a private fee at Rockridge near Hudson, N.Y.
