Charles Fipke's homebred graded stakes winner Tale of Silence will be standing in Ontario this year at John Burness' Colebrook Stallion Station, according to a report from Canadian Thoroughbred and confirmed Jan. 19 by Burness.
The 12-year-old son of Tale of the Cat and freshman sire is entering his fourth year at stud, having stood the last three years at Darby Dan Farm in Central Kentucky. He will stand at Colebrook for an advertised fee of CA$2,500 with a live foal guarantee.
Tale of Silence is a full brother to grade 1 winner Tale of Ekati , who has been a useful sire with 288 winners that include 15 black-type winners and four graded stakes winners. Among Tale of Ekati's best runners are grade 1 winner Girvin , who was a top 10 fourth-crop sire by percentage of black-type performers at 9.4% for 2025, and multiple graded stakes winner Ektai's Phaeton.
"Tale of Silence ran against and held his own against some of the toughest," Burness said. "Also, he is the only son of Tale of the Cat standing in Ontario. He'll be a good outcross for a lot of the mares we have here."
Tale of Silence won the 2018 Westchester Stakes (G3) at Belmont Park, in which he defeated 2017 Preakness Stakes (G1) winner Cloud Computing, and placed in four other graded stakes. He was runner-up to grade 1 winner Maximum Security in the 2019 Bold Ruler Stakes (G3) also at Belmont on his way to collecting career earnings of $540,382.
