The National Thoroughbred Racing Association (NTRA) Horse PAC® Board Chairman Bill Farish and President Tom Rooney are excited to announce Phil Maxson and David O'Farrell as the newest members of the Board of Directors of NTRA Horse PAC®, Thoroughbred racing's bipartisan federal Political Action Committee.
Phil has previously served as Chief of Staff for Senator Mitch McConnell (R-KY), is the current Chair of the Lexington Center Corporation Board of Directors and is a leading federal lobbyist for the equine industry.
David currently owns and operates Ocala Stud, the Thoroughbred breeding and training facility in Ocala, FL, with his family. It has trained three Kentucky Derby winners, most recently Street Sense in 2007, as well as many Eclipse Award winners. He's also a steward at The Jockey Club.
"Phil has been a champion for our sport since his time in the Senate," said NTRA President and CEO Tom Rooney. "We're lucky to be adding him to Horse PAC®. His expertise will improve our ability to fight for the Thoroughbred industry in Kentucky and Washington, D.C. Likewise, David is an expert in all aspects of Thoroughbred racing, and his knowledge will be something we lean on going forward."
Horse PAC® is the Federal Political Action Committee (PAC) of the NTRA. The committee was activated in 2002 to promote and facilitate the accumulation of voluntary contributions from members of the NTRA and its subsidiaries and affiliates, for the support of political parties and candidates for elective office in the United States.
Other Horse PAC board members include: Keith Chamblin, Stephanie Hronis, Wilhelmina McEwan, Justin Nicholson, and Anne W. Poulson.
