With this week's NTRA Top Thoroughbred Poll serving as a reminder: Things can change in a hurry in horse racing.
After ranking sixth in the poll last week, Magnitude vaults to the top spot this week off his scorching victory over reigning Breeders' Cup Classic (G1) winner Forever Young in the Dubai World Cup (G1) March 28 at Meydan Racecourse.
Campaigned by Winchell Thoroughbreds and trained by Steve Asmussen, Magnitude blitzed his eight Dubai World Cup rivals from the start under Jose Ortiz and held sway for a 1-length win over runner-up Forever Young (who falls from second to fourth in this week's poll.)

The victory is the third straight for Magnitude as the 4-year-old son of Not This Time closed out his 3-year-old season with a score over older horses in the Clark Stakes (G2) in November at Churchill Downs before opening this season with 3 3/4-length romp in the Razorback Handicap (G3) Feb. 28 at Oaklawn Park.

In this week's poll, Magnitude secured 14 first-place votes while two-time classic winner Sovereignty landed 12 first-place votes as he ranked second in the poll despite not yet starting in 2026. Sovereignty had topped the poll last week.
The Top 3-Year-Old Poll also saw a shake-up this week as dominant Arkansas Derby (G1) winner Renegade vaulted to the top, powered by 18 first-place votes. Florida Derby (G1) winner Commandment ranked second in the poll and received 11 first-place votes.
Last week's Top 3-Year-Old Poll was topped by Risen Star Stakes (G2) winner Paladin but a right front ankle injury has knocked him off the Triple Crown trail.
