Nathan Klein, a recent graduate of the University of Arizona Racetrack Management Program, will take over as full-time track announcer at Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course starting June 3.

Born in New York City but raised in Chapel Hill, North Carolina, Klein is already a veteran race caller.  His first race call was at Turf Paradise in Phoenix, Arizona in 2022 and he has since called races at 17 other tracks across the country while announcing Thoroughbred, Quarter Horse and Harness races.  At age 21, Klein will be the youngest full-time announcer working in the Thoroughbred industry.

"I couldn't be luckier to have this opportunity to call races at a such a high respected racetrack right out of college.  I've wanted to be an announcer since I was six years old and I have Penn National to thank for that.  I am excited to be joining the Penn racing team," said Klein.

Klein's family originally hails not far from Belmont Park in New York where his mother and grandmother visited in the 1970's, but an interest in horseback riding at a young age was the spur that led to Klein's greater interest in horses and the sport.  Watching the 2010 Breeders' Cup kicked his interest in horse racing to another level and he has wanted to be involved in the industry ever since.

Klein graduates later this month from the University Arizona's RTIP program as the "Distinguished Senior Student of the Year," and earned multiple scholarships while attending the program.  For the past three years he has worked with LAB Racing in providing English speaking racing commentary for world-wide simulcasts of horse racing from Argentina, Uruguay, Turkey and other international locations.   Klein also worked as a marketing intern and fill in announcer at Horseshoe Indianapolis Racetrack in 2025.

"We are excited to have Nathan join our team. We can't wait to see him take the reins and believe everyone will love his enthusiasm and passion for the sport," said Scott Lishia, Director Racing for Hollywood Casino at Penn National Race Course.

Klein will become only the fourth full-time announcer in the 54-year history of Penn National following Tony Bentley, Fred Lipkin and John Bogar.
