Keeneland-based multiple classic winner Golden Tempo worked 4 furlongs in :48 2/5 July 17 in preparation for his next scheduled start, the Aug. 29 Travers Stakes (G1) at Saratoga Race Course. The breeze was his first since since he captured the June 6 Belmont Stakes (G1) at Saratoga, a delay caused by an illness he developed sometime after the race.

Working by himself on a fast track, Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Golden Tempo produced fractions of :12 4/5, :24 3/5, and :36 3/5 before galloping out 5 furlongs in 1:01 2/5 and out three-quarters in 1:14. 4/5. Regular work rider Ameth Gonzalez was aboard the 3-year-old son of Curlin  for trainer Cherie DeVaux.

"Beautiful work. First work back since the Belmont," assistant trainer David Carroll said. "Normally he breezes in company, but he went by himself today and was in hand the whole way. Couldn't ask for more—really happy with what I saw."

A homebred with a 4-for-6 record and earnings of $4,633,000 for Phipps Stable and St. Elias Stable, Golden Tempo is currently stabled in DeVaux's barn at Keeneland in the "Rice Road" stabling area on the Keeneland grounds. He is expected to leave July 18 for Saratoga to prepare for the Travers.
