Group 2 winner Arctic Glamour (by Frosted) will likely visit Zoustar this spring after selling to Julia Ritchie and Widden Stud for AU$640,000 (US$443,766, AU$1=US$0.69) at the close of the Inglis Digital Australia July (Late) Sale July 29.
Offered by trainers Gerald Ryan and Sterling Alexiou, who purchased her at the 2022 Inglis Premier Yearling Sale, Arctic Glamour retired with more than AU$1 million in prize money.
Group 1-placed, her career was headed by victory in the 2025 Hot Danish Stakes (G2). Ritchie said Arctic Glamour immediately caught her attention when the mare was advertised and that Widden principal Antony Thompson had called shortly after.
"Today it was touch and go; we were terrified who we might be up against and we really only had AU$600,000 for her. We held the bid at that amount and then with 10 seconds to go another bid came through at AU$620,000 so we decided to have one more bid but we were out if the other party went again, but thankfully they didn't," Ritchie said.
"Zoustar will be a great match for her. You watch her race history, and she's got an engine in there; she's been very competitive at group 1 level, which is what you like to see, and I think she'll make a beautiful broodmare.''
The auction grossed AU$4,295,850 (US$2,978,678), with 11 lots selling for AU$100,000 or more. Entries for the August (Early) Sale, scheduled for Aug. 7-12, close at midnight Aug. 5.
