New Series Flawed With Preakness Omission
In principle, I think this series is a great idea, but leaving out the Preakness is terrible. The Triple Crown will cease to exist and that's fine. But without the Triple Crown, the Preakness will become just another race. So what happens to the Woodlawn Vase? It could survive the Civil War but not a Churchill-NYRA coup? And replaced by what, the Matt Winn Stakes? Seriously?
Churchill played an enormous hand in destroying Arlington Park, which was a travesty, so I hate seeing them have a hand in destroying the Preakness as well.
