Creed's Gold, one of three Mark Casse-trained runners entered in the Aug. 22 CA$175,000 Seaway Stakes (G3) at Woodbine, will be trying for consecutive graded victories for the first time in her career.
Rallying down the stretch last time out, the daughter of Jimmy Creed came out on top for the second year in a row in the Hendrie Stakes (G3) at the Ontario track.
"I think that performance was a great example of her versatility, not only her ability to race at different distances and on different surfaces, but within the race itself," said Kathryn Sullivan, assistant trainer to Casse. "She came from just off the pace with a really nice move and then produced a strong run down the lane."
But Creed's Gold (6-3-3 from 16 starts) will have to navigate 7 furlongs for the first time with seven other rivals with the same goal in mind.
Topping the list might be Reagan's Flame, who last out was third in the Hendrie. Earlier this year, she won the 6-furlong Whimsical Stakes (G3) by 2 lengths at Woodbine.
She's gone 7 furlongs three times: second in a 2024 starter allowance and seventh in the 2024 Dogwood Stakes (G3), both on dirt at Churchill Downs, and a 2025 allowance optional claiming race on turf at Kentucky Downs in which she was second by three-quarters of a length.

Clash at Century Mile
On the other side of Canada, Century Mile hosts the CA$200,000 Canadian Derby (G3).
The 1 1/4-mile race presents a rematch of the July 24 non-black-type Count Lathum Stakes, which saw the Caravaggio gelding Tisum edge the Big Brown gelding Big Curl by a nose. They were the class of that race, as the runner-up was 4 lengths ahead of his nearest rival.
