A total of 113 weanlings and 137 mares and fillies have been cataloged for the Oct.19-20 Northern Farm Mixed Sale at Northern Horse Park.

Katsumi Yoshida's Northern Farm introduced its own Broodmares Sale in 2019, called the Northern Farm's Broodmare Sale, debuting with 60 fillies and mares on offer.

Thirty-eight weanlings were added to the catalog in 2022 when it was renamed the Northern Farm Mixed Sale. As the weanling portion of the catalog has grown each year, Northern Farm decided to expand it to a two-day sale in 2026.

Of the 113 weanlings, 6 weanlings by Equinox are cataloged to sell Oct. 19, while 137 mares and fillies, who are in foal to leading sires such as Kitasan Black, Efforia, and Real Steel, are slated to sell Oct. 20.

Graduates of the Northern Farm Mixed Sale have seen successful results on the racetrack. The inaugural weanling sale in 2022 has produced three graded stakes winners to date, such as Shohei, a colt by Saturnalia, who was bought by Tatsue Ishikawa for ¥40,000,000 (approx. US$266,596). Shohei has won two graded stakes so far and finished third in the Japanese Derby G1).

The following year, the sale produced two more graded stakes winners, including three-time grade 1 winner Lovcen, a colt by World Premiere, who was bought by Gaen Kogyo for ¥21,000,000yen (approx. $US139,294). Rovcen has won the Hopeful Stakes (G1), Satsuki Sho (G1), and the Japanese Derby. He seeks to become the ninth Japanese Triple Crown winner Oct. 25 when he competes in the Kikuka Sho (G1), the final leg of the Japanese Triple Crown.
