Early Voting , winner of the 2022 Preakness Stakes (G1) and one of two freshman sires represented by a grade 1 winner so far, will stand for $50,000 next year, according to Dr. Paddy O'Casaigh, who owns a majority of the son of Gun Runner .
As of Oct. 6, Early Voting is the seventh-leading North American freshman sire by progeny earnings and the fifth-leading sire by percentage of black-type winners from runners at 5.4%. His two stakes winners so far include Del Mar Debutante Stakes (G1) winner Miss Monica and Early Encore, who defeated California-breds by 6 1/4 lengths in the I'm Smokin Stakes at Del Mar this summer. The only other freshman sire with a grade 1 winner year to date is Life Is Good .
"Performance is everything in racing," said Ben Taylor, who was president of Taylor Made Stallions when the farm started standing Early Voting in 2024. "Early Voting has it all. In the barn, on the track, at the sales. He leaves a lovely athletic type, and they can run. We already have 47 bookings for the 2027 breeding season."
Early Voting has sired 11 winners so far, who include three stakes performers. Besides Miss Monica and Early Encore, his other black-type runner is He Is No Lie.
He Is No Lie ran second in the Iroquois Stakes (G3) and the Bashford Manor Stakes at Churchill Downs.
Miss Moncia, who is raced by longtime partners Mike Pegram, Karl Watson, and Paul Weitman and trained by Bob Baffert, is anticipated to start in the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1), while Purple Rein Racing and Mark Davis' He Is No Lie is expected to enter the Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1). Doug O'Neill trains He Is No Lie.
At auction, Early Voting was represented by a $1.25 million yearling recently at the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, bought by M.V. Magnier and Peter Brant's White Birch Farm. The colt is out of the Declaration of War daughter Fanny, a half sister to multiple graded-placed winner Street Ready and stakes-placed winner Robin Hood. The immediate family also produced graded stakes winner Hall of Fame (by Gun Runner), and multiple grade 1 winner Diversify. For his yearlings overall this year, Early Voting was represented by 27 sold for an average $140,500.
O'Casaigh, the spokesman and director for Fission Biomedical International that owns 90% of Early Voting, announced Oct. 6 that Fission Biomedical will consign one lifetime breeding right to Early Voting during Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale being held in Lexington Nov. 2.
"We have been advised of at least two possible Early Voting 2-year-old entries to the 2026 Breeders' Cup, so we are delighted to consign this breeding share for auction at the 'Night Of The Stars'," he said. "Maybe this will give the successful bidder the chance to have some fun and excitement with progeny from this high-performing freshman sire."
