Three Chimneys Farm announced Oct. 28 its stallion roster and fees for the upcoming 2027 breeding season, led again by 2017 Horse of the Year, Hall of Famer, and breed-shaping sire Gun Runner , whose fee will be private following another historic year in both the sales ring and on the racetrack.
"We are excited to see Gun Runner's continued success on the track and in the sales ring. We look forward to showcasing Newgate's and Gun Pilot's first-crop weanlings this November. We are also pleased to have Gun Runner's grade 1 half brother Ottinho join our roster," said Rebecca Nicholson, Three Chimneys' director of stallion nominations.
Three Chimneys will host an open house from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. ET Nov. 2-8 for breeders to inspect its full roster of stallions.
Gun Runner has continued to establish new standards of excellence in 2026, becoming the first stallion in history to sire 25 seven-figure yearlings sold at public auction in a single year, according to the farm, representing nearly a third of his yearlings sold. His season included 10 million-dollar yearlings at Fasig-Tipton's The Saratoga Sale and 12 seven-figure yearlings during Book 1 of the Keeneland September Yearling Sale.
On the racetrack, Gun Runner has added four new grade 1 winners in 2026, including Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Always a Runner, Travers Stakes (G1) winner Leading Change, Blue Grass Stakes (G1) winner Further Ado , and Alabama Stakes (G1) winner My Gun's Loaded. He has now sired 16 grade 1 winners to date.
Joining the roster for 2027 is Gun Runner's half brother Ottinho , the grade 1-performing 3-year-old who qualified for the Kentucky Derby (G1) after a runner-up effort in the Blue Grass Stakes at Keeneland. By Quality Road , Ottinho offers breeders access to one of the most distinguished families in the American stud book. His introductory stud fee will be $7,500.
Volatile , a grade 1-winning son of Violence who has proven to be one of the industry's leading influences of speed, will have his 2027 fee announced after the Breeders' Cup. He is set to have multiple starters competing in Oct. 31 Breeders' Cup dirt races at Keeneland, including grade 1 winner T O Elvis, a top contender in the Breeders' Cup Sprint (G1), and Foie Gras, a contender in the Breeders' Cup Filly and Mare Sprint (G1).
Volatile has been well represented in the commercial market this year, with 2-year-olds selling up to $650,000 and yearlings selling up to $525,000. He has eight stakes winners to date in 2026, including Three Chimneys homebred Igniter, a 4-length winner of the Ellis Park Derby.
Gun Pilot , a grade 1-winning millionaire son of Gun Runner, will stand his third season at stud in 2027 for $12,500. Winner of the 2024 Churchill Downs Stakes (G1), Gun Pilot's first weanlings have already been popular in the sales ring, highlighted by individuals selling for $105,000 and $100,000 at the recent Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Mixed Sale.
Newgate , a grade 1-winning son of Into Mischief , will stand for $10,000. An $850,000 yearling turned 2024 Santa Anita Handicap (G1) winner, Newgate continues to offer breeders a physical standout to go along with his top-level racing credentials.
Gun Pilot and Newgate are both set to be represented by first-crop weanlings at the upcoming November sales in Lexington.
Grade 1 winner Funtastic will stand for $5,000 in 2027. His current top performers include grade 2 winner First Peace and grade 3 winner Funtastic Again.
