Near the end of Fasig-Tipton's The November Sale, Kia Joorabchian's Amo Racing USA secured Cy Fair with a final, hard-fought bid of $4.2 million for the 3-year-old daughter of Not This Time . Cy Fair was recently second to Bacio in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint (G1T).

Bloodstock agent Jamie McCalmont said the plans for the filly include a trip to Ascot Racecourse and possibly another chance at a Breeders' Cup title next year. McCalmont said Cy Fair would stay with trainer George Weaver.

"I don't think she has to do much better than she's already done," McCalmont said. "If she can maintain what she's done already, we've got a very nice horse for the racing stable, and that's what we're trying to do is win big races."

McCalmont said they planned to go to $4 million for the filly, consigned as Hip 182 by Taylor Made Sales Agency, agent.

"The other filly (Ways and Means) had made $5 million, so you had to think that she (Cy Fair) was going to make $4 million. That was for sure," he said. "I think that was as far as we were going to go. But we're very happy to have her."

The daughter of Not This Time was bred in Kentucky by Marc Keller. She is out of the Arch mare Remarqued, who is a half sister to multiple group winner Crimson Advocate and hails from the immediate family of grade 1 winners Caledonia Road and Data Link. With a pedigree like hers, Cy Fair offers a lot of upside both on the racetrack and down the road as a broodmare.

McCalmont said it is likely that Amo would breed the filly after her racing career.

"I mean they're very hard to get. If you've got a Breeders' Cup winner in your broodmare band, that's pretty good, isn't it?" he said.

Cy Fair's story began last year as a 2-year-old when she caught the eye of bloodstock agent Maddie Mattmiller of Black Type Thoroughbreds. Mattmiller picked her out for her client, Reagan Swinbank of Swinbank Stables and purchased her in a private sale for $185,000 after she failed to meet her reserve in the ring at the Ocala Breeders' Sales Spring 2-Year-Olds in Training Sale.

Following an impressive Saratoga Race Course debut, the filly's ownership grew to include Medallion Racing, Mark Stanton, and Joey Platts. Following a win in the Algonquin Stakes at Woodbine, the filly took the Breeders' Cup Juvenile Turf Sprint (G1T) at Del Mar against the colts. She won back-to-back graded stakes races this year and ended the season on a high note, with a tremendous run behind Bacio and a group of elite sprinters from around the world in the Breeders' Cup Turf Sprint.

"It was a great relationship we developed with Jake Ballis, Maddie Mattmiller, and Reagan Swinbank," said Mark Taylor, president and CEO of Taylor Made Farm, which operates Medallion Racing. "They were partners, and they were really great partners. It could not have gone smoother. No bumps in the road.

"George Weaver did an incredible job. We got to know George Weaver better, so the whole thing was just really a blessing. I'm very happy that she's going to Amo Racing, and that she gets to keep running, and we get to keep cheering for her. I think she's got an Ascot win in her in 2027. I hope they go that route because I'd love to see her run in that environment."
