Graded Stakes Winner Doneraile Court Dies at 30

Doneraile Court, a multiple graded stakes-winning son of Seattle Slew, has died at age 30, Old Friends announced on X Jan. 30. The Thoroughbred retirement facility near Georgetown, Ky., shared in an X post, "We are devastated to announce the death of 30-year-old Doneraile Court. A MGSW who was well traveled at stud, he arrived at Old Friends in December 2019 & quickly became a farm favorite. He spent his last years as the King of the MHG Annex at Winding Oaks & will be much missed."

He had been a resident at Old Friends since 2019. 

Trained by Nick Zito and owned by Michael Tabor and Mrs. John Magnier, who purchased him for $1 million at the 1997 Keeneland July Sale, Doneraile Court broke his maiden by 6 1/2 lengths as a 2-year-old at Belmont Park | BloodHorse.com Track Profile"> Belmont Park in his third start Oct. 18 1998. He then went on to win the 1998 Nashua Stakes (G3). During his 3-year-old season he ran second in the Holy Bull Stakes (G3), third in the Tampa Bay Derby, and second in the Dwyer Stakes (G2) before capping off his year with back-to-back wins in the Jerome Handicap (G2) and an allowance race. He completed his racing career with a 6-3-2 record from 16 starts and earnings of $361,410. 

He entered stud in 2000 at Buck Pond Farm in Kentucky where he stood for the next four years while being shuttled to Chile, before being transferred to Hill 'n' Dale Farms. He stood there for two seasons before standing at Stonewall Farm Stallions in Kentucky. In 2011 he was sent to Florida's HallMarc Stallions at Stonewall Farm Ocala. He stood the 2014 season in Minnesota at Dove Hill Farm before ending his breeding career at Stonewall near Ocala, Florida.

Doneraile Court was the sire of Ariege, the winner of the 2008 Santa Anita Oaks (G1), multiple graded stakes winner Noble Court, Chile's 2008 Horse of the Year Cocoa Beach.
