Albaugh Family Stables' On Time Girl, a season-opening winner of the Forward Gal (G3) at Gulfstream Park, breezed Friday ahead of a possible start in the $275,000 Gulfstream Park Oaks (G2) for 3-year-old fillies March 28.
The 1 1/16-mile Gulfstream Park Oaks is among 10 stakes, five graded, worth $2.675 million in purses on a blockbuster program headlined by the 75th running of the $1 million Curlin Florida Derby (G1) presented by Hill 'n' Dale Farms at Xalapa for 3-year-olds on the Triple Crown trail.
First run in 1971, the Gulfstream Park Oaks offers 200 qualifying points for the May 1 Kentucky Oaks (G1) to the top five finishers on a 100-50-25-15-10 basis.
Trained by Brad Cox, On Time Girl worked a half-mile in 50 seconds over a fast main track at Payson Park in Indiantown, Fla., her first breeze since finishing third as the favorite in Gulfstream's one-mile Davona Dale (G2) Feb. 28.
A bay daughter of Not This Time, On Time Girl has been third or better in each of her six starts, four of them wins including the 6 1/2-furlong Fern Creek last fall and seven-furlong Forward Gal in her Gulfstream debut.
Also breezing for Cox at Payson was Spendthrift Farm's Further Ado, who went four furlongs in 49.80 seconds, ninth-fastest of 46 horses. Winner of the 2025 Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) and most recently second in the March 7 Tampa Bay Derby (G3), he is among 28 nominees to the Florida Derby.
Other Florida Derby nominees on the Friday work tab included Courting, five furlongs in 1:01.80 at Palm Beach Downs for Hall of Fame trainer Todd Pletcher; Redland Rebels, five furlongs in 1:01.90 for trainer Patrick Biancone at Palm Meadows, Gulfstream's satellite training facility in Palm Beach County; and Jena Antonucci-trained maiden Moonstrocity, six furlongs in 1:14.34 at Gulfstream.
Whisper Hill Farm, Stonestreet Stables and Windancer Farm's Courting owns a one-mile maiden win last fall among four starts and most recently ran sixth in the Feb. 14 Risen Star (G2) at Fair Grounds. Calypso Racing Stables' Redland Rebels was beaten a neck when second in the Jan. 31 Kitten's Joy on the Gulfstream turf before running fourth in the Tampa Bay Derby. Blue Rose Farm's Moonstrocity is winless in two tries, finishing third last out in a one-mile maiden event Feb. 28 at Gulfstream.
Redland Rebels' Patrick Biancone-trained stablemate, JSM Equine's 3-year-old filly Haute Diva, worked five furlongs in 1:01.05 at Palm Meadows. The Gulfstream Park Oaks nominee won Gulfstream's one-mile Cash Run Jan. 1 and was fifth last out in the Davona Dale.
Entries will be taken and post positions drawn Saturday for the Florida Derby Day program. The Florida Derby draw will be simulcast live following Race 3, which has a post time of 1:51 p.m. ET
