Crisis was averted at Delaware Park in the late evening hours of Aug. 10 as a small barn fire was extinguished by a sprinkler system.
Firefighters responded to the reports Monday evening, according to a Facebook post by First State Update, a news company covering Delaware. The post also said that horses stabled in the barn were released into a nearby field.
Delaware Park racing information coordinator Chris Sobocinski told BloodHorse that the fire was limited to a storage room that contained mostly hay and straw.
"The sprinkler system put out the fire right away and there were no equine or human injuries," Sobocinski said.
