A 35-race career spanning six years, four countries, and a trio of victories in the world's biggest sprints has come to an end. Asfoora has been retired.
The 8-year-old mare, signing off with an eighth place finish in the Nunthorpe Stakes (G1) under Oisin Murphy, introduced trainer Henry Dwyer to British racing and made the experience so positive the Australian now has a British training license.
She also put the 2024 King Charles III Stakes (G1), 2025 Nunthorpe, and 2025 Prix de l'Abbaye de Longchamp (G1) on the mantelpiece and earned a permanent spot in Dwyer's heart.
He said: "She ran a creditable race. Oisin's words were, 'She didn't grab the ground,' which was about right. She tried hard, she wasn't beaten far and it's the end of a long journey.
"It's been fun, but all good things must come to an end. She's won three group 1s, it's been a blast and the search continues for the next one."
On just how good the Asfoora experience had been, he added: "I'd be lying if I said I could quantify it, you just can't put it into numbers. You've no idea how much fun we've had.
"I think I've been over seven times this year. Every time we've come, we've brought a group of people and it's opened up eyes in Australia as to how good these events are."
