Odds-on favorite Hughes fought off all challengers in deep stretch to win the $2 million Breeders' Cup Juvenile (G1) by 2 1/4 lengths and remain undefeated in five starts this year. The win gave trainer Bob Baffert his 22nd Breeders' Cup World Championships victory.
The son of Into Mischief was already a multiple grade 1 winner heading into the Breeders' Cup and has stamped himself as an early colt to watch for next year's Triple Crown season. The Juvenile is a qualifying race for the 2027 Kentucky Derby (G1), distributing points to the top four finishers on a 30-15-9-6-3.
Hughes paid $3.64 to win.
American History finished second and Salahudin, also trained by Baffert, ran third.
